As I share this poem, I wish that everyone has someone like my brother, Kap Young in their life.
It Started Out Calm
my voice
controlled , as usual
but no more than begun the sharing of my distress
and out it came
pouring out
raging out
yelling
swearing
pounding the dash with my fist
my brother kept driving
nodding,
with an occasional "good work"
strangely and beautifully,
in the same instant cursing and shrieking,
I experienced a comfort so pure
a comfort of
knowing the complete acceptance
from my brother
knowing I didn't have to
be careful of what I screamed
knowing that the words and feelings
violently discharged from
my body
would never be turned against me ...
what space
what freedom
what a brother
what a friend
what a relief
